The Hastings Community Woodworkers Guild has been bringing together woodworking enthusiasts from across the region since 1994. Built on friendship, community, and a shared passion for woodworking, the Guild welcomes members of all skill levels—from complete beginners to experienced craftspeople.
Members meet informally every Friday at the Port Macquarie Arts and Craft Centre, providing an opportunity to work on projects, exchange ideas, and enjoy the company of fellow woodworkers.
Each month, the Guild holds a general meeting featuring a popular Show and Tell session, where members proudly display and discuss their latest projects. Guest speakers are often invited to share their expertise, and the meeting concludes with a delicious lunch and plenty of conversation.
One of the Guild’s greatest strengths is the willingness of members to share their knowledge and experience. Skills covering almost every aspect of woodworking are freely passed on, ensuring that new members are supported and encouraged as they develop their own abilities.
Also held each month is the popular Tool of the Month (TOM) session. During these demonstrations, experienced members showcase tools, techniques, and practical tips that can help improve both craftsmanship and workshop safety. These presentations are always informative and eagerly anticipated.
Each year, during the September school holidays, the Guild stages its annual exhibition at the Country Women’s Association hall in Port Macquarie. The exhibition showcases the exceptional work of Guild members, with all items available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds is donated to local charitable organisations, allowing the Guild to give back to the community while celebrating the creativity and craftsmanship of its members.
Our History
The Hastings Community Woodworkers Guild was established on 22 June 1994 by a small group of 16 enthusiastic woodworkers who met wherever suitable space was available.
In 1995, the Guild moved into shared facilities at the Wauchope Showgrounds, providing a more permanent base for its growing membership. As interest in the Guild continued to increase, membership expanded to around 50 members, making it necessary to relocate once again. The Guild then found a new home at Timbertown Heritage Park, where it continued to flourish and strengthen its reputation as one of the region’s leading woodworking organisations.
Today, the Guild continues to honour the values on which it was founded—friendship, learning, craftsmanship, and community involvement—while welcoming new members who share a passion for working with wood.
2026 Wauchope Show

2025 Exhibition
A very successful exhibition by the Guild was held over the October long weekend at the CWA rooms in Port Macquarie, at this event we were able to sell $234 worth of items from our charity table with this money being donated to The Smith Family Charity. We were also able to donate approximately 40 animal toys to the CWA. Here are a few photos of the work on sale:
